Before we left Chicago, I wanted to throw a little party for the girls, meaning my girls and Georgia and Athena. I thought they’d have fun planning it and helping with the refreshments. So we dubbed our party a Garden Party, and planned all sorts of games, which turned out to be surprisingly fun. I got a bucket and filled it with torn newspaper scraps then swished a bunch of gummy worms around, slapped on a blindfold and set the timer. Basically the object was to get as many gummy worms as you could in the allotted amount of time.

We bowled inside with soda cans and shot at a target with our ever-handy Nerf gun. The girls all helped make the butterfly cupcakes the night before which was not an easy feat.

Really the best part of the party was the water balloon fight at the end. The back of our building has a little yard area, which is mostly concrete. All the parents got in on the action. The boys in the building next door heard the squeals and decided to crash the good time with some super soakers of their own, and it made me chuckle to see how annoyed the girls were to have boys at their party.
Georgia, Athena and the rest of their family were such a huge part of my life in Chicago. Not only did we walk together to school on a daily basis, but I'd have the girls over for dinner at least once a week, and then we'd often do a movie night on Friday nights. I genuinely enjoyed having these girls around. My girls loved them, and they broke up the monotony of killing time which I so frequently did while in Chicago.
